The state-wide strike of electricity workers which started from Thursday night has created hue and cry. Within the first 24 hours of the three-day strike, a massive impact was visible. Power generation from five generating houses was stopped. Normal life was affected due to closure of several transmission lines and disruption of power supply from a large number of sub-stations and feeders. There has been a massive cut from the city to the villages. At the same time, there has been a big impact on the production of industries in the state. There are reports of stoppage of production in thousands of industries.

Energy Minister AK Sharma has appealed to the public to exercise restraint and said that he has once again warned the electricity workers that strict action will be taken against those who disrupt the supply wherever they are on earth, sky or underworld. On the other hand, according to the claim of the Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti, production of 1030 MW of power was reduced due to the closure of five production units of Obra, Anpara and Parichha of the Production Corporation.

Not a single employee turned up for duty on Thursday night shift at generating houses, SLDCs and transmission power sub-stations. After which the administration and management did not let the evening shift employees go even after the duty was over at night. 8 units closed, production of 1850 MW affected

Two units of 210 MW each in Anpara, two units of 200 MW each in Obra and one unit of 210 MW in Parichha have been closed. Two units of 210 MW and 500 MW in Anpara and one unit of 110 MW in Parichha which were already closed could not be run due to lack of staff. Power generation units of 1850 MW capacity of Utpadan Nigam remained closed.

Holding the top management of the power corporations responsible for the strike, the office bearers of the Sangharsh Samiti said that the electricity workers are fighting to honor the agreement made with the Energy Minister. The Committee has termed the allegations of sabotage leveled by the Energy Minister as wrong. Said that the power workers consider power plants as their mother and are on strike peacefully.

Life in trouble due to strike, production stalled in thousands of industries

Lucknow. Apart from affecting the general public due to the movement of electricity workers, it has had a major negative impact on the industrial production of the state on Friday. From Purvanchal, Bundelkhand to Paschimanchal, production has come to a standstill in hundreds of factories and industries due to lack of electricity. It also has an impact on business activities. From cities to villages, people were seen troubled due to non-availability of electricity. There were also hindrances in the treatment of patients in hospitals.

In Mahoba’s Orai, hundreds of villages were plunged into darkness due to fault in the feeder and local fault. The situation worsened due to break down of 33 KV line in Lalitpur and Chitrakoot. There was no major impact on power supply in Hamirpur, Banda and Jhansi.

Production stalled in three thousand industrial units in Kanpur

Apart from five districts of Kanpur division, widespread impact of strike was seen in Unnao, Fatehpur, Hardoi. In Kanpur, production came to a standstill in 3000 units due to faults in industrial areas. Due to weather in 17 sub-stations, supply got disrupted due to I fault. The supply of about 800 villages has come to a standstill. Due to the closure of 10 sub-stations in Fatehpur, a population of about five lakhs is affected.

Production stalled in 500 factories in Gorakhpur

Power supply has collapsed in urban and rural areas of Gorakhpur-Basti division. Supply of about four lakh houses connected to 50 power houses in Gorakhpur rural area has come to a standstill. From Gida to the industrial area, the production of about 60 thousand crores has been affected in about 500 factories. Operators of dozens of power houses have fled after locking them.

Lineman jailed in Maharajganj

On the other hand, in Siswa of Maharajganj, a lineman who was found involved in the failure of the alternative system of power supply was sent to jail. The partial effect of the power strike was visible in Bareilly division. Many works including bill deposit, bill rectification, meter installation, fault rectification are affected. Due to power cut in Pilibhit, many industrial units came to standstill and 90 complaints are pending. In Badaun, the supply of Panbadia power house of the city and many feeders of the countryside is closed.

20 lakh population affected in Prayagraj

In Prayagraj, a population of about 20 lakhs in the city and rural areas was affected. X-ray and pathology tests came to a standstill due to power cut at Motilal Nehru Divisional Hospital, Colvin. The supply to the medical college also got stalled in the afternoon. In the first 20 hours of the strike of electricity workers in Agra, about 500 complaints were received in Braj, including 72 in Etah, 21 in Mainpuri. Employees at many sub-stations in Sitapur went missing from 12 o’clock in the night due to which many areas were plunged into darkness. In Ambedkar Nagar, there is power failure in many areas since morning.

40 percent feeder closed in Varanasi

Power crisis has deepened in Varanasi due to closure of 40 percent feeders. In Jaunpur, there is a power failure in half of the city from around 9 pm on Thursday night. Power supply was restored in many areas of Azamgarh city after 36 hours. In Ballia, supply has stopped in half of the city for 24 hours and in the remaining for 20 hours. Mau has no special effect.

More than 2000 faults in Paschimanchal

The strike of electricity workers had a wide impact in 14 districts of Paschimanchal. There were more than 2000 breakdowns. Maximum breakdowns occurred in Moradabad and Saharanpur zones. Power supply of Meerut city was partially affected.
