Search for Khalistani supporter Amritpal intensifies
Punjab: Four associates of absconding Khalistani supporter and radical preacher Amritpal Singh were brought to Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Sunday. According to a top police source, four accomplices of detained separatist Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh were brought to Dibrugarh in a special Air Force aircraft. He will probably be kept in Dibrugarh Central Jail. DIG Swapan Sharma has told that we were directed to nab him (Amritpal Singh), while chasing he came on the link road one lane ahead of us. While overtaking us, he collided with 5-6 motorcyclists, some with the intention of stopping us from chasing.
On Amritpal’s arrest, DIG Jalandhar Swapan Sharma told that during the interception in Mehatpur, the car in front jumped during the chase. We have recovered the other two cars. We have also recovered seven illegal weapons. He had some Pakistan-ISIS links. We are registering an FIR in Amritsar rural area, we have caught 10 people. We are probing how these vehicles were financed. Some phones have been recovered, their technical analysis is being done.
