Mysuru: Senior Lingayat leader of the Congress in Karnataka and cabinet minister in the Siddaramaiah government in the state, M.B. Patil has given a big statement. Patil has said that Siddaramaiah will continue to be the chief minister for the next five years and there has been no talk of power sharing in the party. This statement of the senior Congress leader may once again put the party in trouble in the state, as the high command had persuaded DK Shivakumar to work under the patronage of Siddaramaiah after a lot of effort.

‘Siddaramaiah will be CM for full 5 years’

In a statement in Mysuru, Patil said, ‘As you also know, Siddaramaiah will be the CM for the entire 5 years. Had there been any talk like power sharing, the top leadership of the party would have definitely told us. There is no such proposal. Our AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal also did not give any such information that day. The senior Lingayat leader made this statement while talking to the media after meeting the abbot of the famous Suttur Math in Mysuru on Monday.

‘…then it would have been announced on the same day’

Patil also referred to the press conference of the party’s national general secretary KC Venugopal in which he did not give a clear answer on the power sharing formula. He said that if the high command had taken a decision in this regard, it would have been announced on the same day. Please tell that Patil is considered to be of the Siddaramaiah camp. If sources are to be believed, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has objected to the portfolio he has demanded. Perhaps this is the reason why this statement of Patil has come to the fore.

‘Drama’ is yet to come in Karnataka Congress
Let us tell you that after registering a big victory in the Karnataka assembly elections, the Chief Minister’s post DK Shivakumar And Siddaramaiah came face to face. The high command had to struggle a lot to persuade Shivakumar for the post of Deputy Chief Minister. The news was also coming quoting the sources that Shivkumar had accepted to become the Deputy CM for the time being only after getting the assurance of Chief Minister’s post later. In such a situation, Patil’s latest statement can create problems for the Congress in the state.
