Sitharaman mentioned the investment opportunities available in India in a discussion with a team of global senior executives of Boeing. He said that India can play a role as a trade hub for the entire region. Referring to the meeting, the Finance Ministry in a tweet said that the Finance Minister invited Boeing executives to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in the Indian market.

He said that India’s aeronautical and civil aviation market is on the path of high growth. Apart from this, India also wants to establish itself as an aircraft maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) center. Boeing has recently bagged a major contract for the supply of aircraft from Air India. Recently, SpiceJet, an airline providing affordable aviation services, on Tuesday announced an increase in the salary of pilots (Captains).

The airline said that the monthly salary of the pilots is being increased to Rs 7.5 lakh for 75 flying hours. Apart from this, the airline has also announced a rank linked loyalty award for pilots. Salaries of trainers and first officers have also been increased. The airline said in a statement that the monthly salary of the pilots is being increased to Rs 7.5 lakh for 75 flying hours. This increase will be applicable from May 16, 2023. Earlier, the airline had increased the salary of its pilots to Rs 7 lakh for a monthly 80-hour flight in November 2022.
