Retired Haryana Police former DSP Samundar Singh commits suicide

Faridabad: Retired from Haryana Police and a respected senior police officer of his time has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at his home in Faridabad. The police informed about this on Wednesday. Police said that former DSP Samundar Singh was ill for a long time. Singh, 72, lived with his family in Omaxe Heights Society in Greater Faridabad and shot himself with his licensed revolver in the morning.

After getting the information, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahendra Verma along with the forensic team reached the spot and sent the body to BK Hospital for postmortem. Singh’s revolver has been recovered. Verma said, ‘No suicide note has been found from the spot. After the post-mortem, the dead body has been handed over to the relatives.

Retired from police service in the year 2009

According to the information received, Samundar Singh had retired from the police service in the year 2009. He lived in Sector 86. Police has started investigating this suicide case. It is being said that Singh was in depression due to his illness.

Singh’s relatives told the police that despite being ill, he looked happy on Tuesday night. He also regrets that no one in the family could hear the sound of the bullet. Singh, police said, was counted among the most influential officers in the state. He retired in December 2009. He served in Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Sirsa and Rewari districts.
