On January 27, Air India’s flagship airline is finalizing a historic order for new aircraft. Experts say that since the transfer of ownership of Air India from the government to the Tata group, the airline is undergoing a transformation. New aircraft not bought for 16 years

Earlier, Air India, being a public sector airline, bought new aircraft 16 years ago. The airline has not bought any new aircraft since 2005. The last order was for 111 aircraft. Of these, 68 were given to Boeing & Company, the remaining 43 to Airbus. The deal was worth $10.8 billion. The deal with Airbus for 250 aircraft has been finalized and an announcement could be made next week, the source said.

will buy 40 large size airbus

Under this deal, Air India is likely to buy 40 wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft. This will make Air India the first airline to operate these aircraft. In the past, Air India has been operating the widebody A330 aircraft. On Wednesday, aviation consultant CAPA (CAPA) had said that Indian airlines will order 1,700 aircraft by 2024. Air India will probably be the first to make the move with an order for 500 aircraft.
