West Bengal: Shatrughan Sinha, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha member from Asansol, has lauded Rahul Gandhi’s speech on the floor of Parliament regarding the fall in Adani Group’s share prices. In such a situation, Shatrughan Sinha’s statement in favor of Rahul is being considered as a setback for the party.
Sinha took to Twitter on Friday to laud Gandhi’s forceful speech. At the same time, Sinha targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not giving proper answers to the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi in this matter. Sinha tweeted, “We all listened to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 1.5 hour long speech in Parliament but unfortunately it lacked substance and did not answer any of the questions raised by youth icon Rahul Gandhi. Everyone Praising Rahul Gandhi.
‘See it for your understanding and knowledge!’
He wrote in another tweet, “That being said, this is one of the best and ‘best’ speech of Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. Watch it for your understanding and knowledge! Jai Hind!” Sinha also tagged the official Twitter handles of the All India Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with the tweet.
The party distanced itself from Sinha’s comments.
The Trinamool Congress leadership has started distancing itself from Sinha’s comments. According to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha Dr Santanu Sen, Sinha’s comments are his personal observations and do not necessarily reflect the Trinamool Congress’s stand on the matter. Sen said all we have to say to the Congress is that it is good that they have organized the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, adding that the leadership should try to keep the party together.
Rahul has been praised even before this
Significantly, this is not the first time that Sinha’s praise about Rahul Gandhi has put the Trinamool Congress in a quandary. Earlier on January 9, Shatrughan Sinha while talking to media persons said that Rahul Gandhi is a youth icon and has emerged as a serious leader. Also said that Rahul Gandhi has destroyed the image which the opposition had tried to project against him. Since then, political observers believe that Sinha’s praise about ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ has created discomfort for the Trinamool Congress leadership.
