Amazon Layoffs: Amazon has revealed plans to cut around 9,000 jobs from its cloud services, advertising and other units. The company has added a substantial amount of employees over the years, but the uncertain economy has forced it to cut costs and headcount.

Earlier this month, Facebook’s parent company Meta also announced another round of layoffs. According to reports, the company has already started layoffs, starting with 1,500 employees in recruitment and human resources. According to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter, Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg told employees that the economic climate of layoffs and restructuring could last several years. While linked to performance, the recent cuts were due to financial necessity and product priorities. On March 14, Zuckerberg said that Meta planned to lay off approximately 10,000 employees and eliminate 5,000 open roles, but had not yet notified everyone who would be affected. For example, layoffs in engineering are scheduled for April.
