Very slow pace of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, till now only this much work has been completed

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project is not able to catch pace. According to official data, only 30.15 per cent work has been done on it till March 31. Towards Gujarat, 35.23 per cent work has been done, while towards Maharashtra the picture is dismal. Now only 19.65 percent work has been done.

About 56.34 per cent civil work has been completed on the project. Significantly, the work on the project is going on for five years.

Estimated cost over 1 lakh crore

India’s first Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed ​​Rail project (MAHSR) or bullet train, estimated to cost around Rs 1 lakh 8,000 crore, is targeted for trial run between Surat-Bilimora (63 km) by August 2026. The entire 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, including 156 km in Maharashtra and 352 km in Gujarat. The bullet train on this route is likely to be operational by 2027. To the north, the Mumbai-Thane rail corridor passing through the eco-sensitive Thane Creek will be a major attraction, including the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary (TCFS), which was designated as a Ramsar site in August 2022.

Mumbai to Ahmedabad in just 2 hours 7 minutes

According to the National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the bullet train will run at a maximum speed of 320 kmph and will cover the entire distance between Mumbai-Ahmedabad in just 127 minutes. MAHSR comprises 92 per cent high-speed elevated railway track through viaducts (460 km) and bridges (9.22 km), tunnels (25.87 km), embankments/cuttings (12.9 km). Starting from Bandra Kurla Complex, the bullet train will travel till the final destination, Sabarmati station in Ahmedabad. It will pass through eight districts of Gujarat, three districts of Maharashtra and the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The bullet train will stop at a dozen stations including Mumbai-BKC, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati stations.
