Indian Army treating the injured at a field hospital in Turkey (File)
New Delhi. India has proved to be Turkey’s biggest helper in the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Several military aircraft and large quantities of medicines, relief materials and doctors and relief teams have been helping humanity in Turkey since day one. Along with this, the Indian Army has started a field hospital under Operation Dost to save the lives of the injured in the earthquake. It has 24 hours facilities for both emergency medicine and operations. The army said that the hospital has also started functioning. It has surgery and emergency wards.
Let us tell you that there was a powerful earthquake of 7.8 magnitude in Turkey and Syria on Monday, in which more than 19,000 people have been confirmed dead so far. India has started ‘Operation Dost’ to help both Turkey and Syria. The Government of India has sent relief materials, mobile hospitals, search and rescue teams to Turkey by four military aircraft on Tuesday. After this, relief material was also sent on Wednesday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took to Twitter on Thursday to inform about the relief work done by India in Turkey. He said that the army has established a field hospital in Iskenderun, Hatay province in Turkey, which has started functioning.
24-hour treatment, X-ray and surgery facilities in the Indian Army hospital
This field hospital of the Indian Army has medical, surgery, emergency wards as well as X-ray labs and medical stores. He said that under ‘Operation Dost’, Army teams are working 24×7 to provide relief to the affected people. Jaishankar had earlier shared pictures of India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams launching a search operation in Turkey’s Ganjiyatep. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India has sent more than 250 personnel, special equipment and other material to Turkey in five C-17 aircraft of the Air Force, the total weight of which is more than 135 tonnes. The Indian Army on Thursday shared a picture on Twitter in which a woman is seen hugging an army personnel on duty at a field hospital. Meanwhile, the Syrian Embassy in India has issued an appeal seeking help. India has also sent relief material to Syria on Tuesday.
