Union minister appeals to hug cows
New Delhi: Union Minister Purushottam Rupala on Thursday said it would be good if people celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hug Day’, responding positively to the call of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). AWBI appeals to cow lovers to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’

The board said the appeal has been made because Vedic traditions are almost “on the verge of extinction” due to the progress of western culture. The Board, established in the year 1962 under section 4 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, provides grants to animal welfare organizations and advises the Center on animal welfare issues.
