Chinese scientist doing space walk in space (File)
New Delhi. China has surprised the world by taking another big leap in the field of space. The Chinese crew has been staying in the space station for about 70 days. According to the news received from the Chinese Manned Space Engineering Office, the crew of Shenzhou-15 has successfully completed the space walk for about 7 hours at 12:16 on the night of February 9. These astronauts include the names of Fei Chunlong, Teng Qingming and Chang Lu. He has successfully completed the space walk mission. At present, astronauts Fei Chunlong and Chang Lu have safely returned to the Vantian Experimental Module and the activity outside the cabin has been a complete success.
During the astronauts’ out-of-vehicle activities, they completed tasks such as installation of the extended pump set outside Mengthien’s cabin. The whole process went smoothly. This is the first time for astronauts to leave the cabin since the Chinese space station was fully built. According to the plan, in future the astronaut crew will carry out many activities outside the cabin. In addition, the space station cargo out-of-cabin installation work has also been done in the initial phase.
Space walk by wearing EVA suit
2 out of 3 Chinese astronauts walked out of Tiangong wearing Feitian EVA suits. While a third crew member continued to support activities from inside the space station. The spacewalk was broadcast live by Chinese state media. The Shenzhou 15 crew was launched into the Tiangong Space Station on November 29 last year. The astronauts have thus far spent more than 70 days in orbit conducting tasks including testing the new experiment cabinet installed in the Mengtian Science Module. Tiangong has 24 science cabinets in its Wentian and Mengtian modules, and Shenzhou’s 15 crewmates are about to conduct more than 100 science experiments using the new equipment during their six-month stay in orbit. Fei, Deng and Zhang also celebrated the Chinese New Year last month and sent TV viewers well wishes back on Earth. They have also held space painting and photo exhibitions, according to state media. All three are expected to perform three or four spacewalks before the end of their approximately 180-day long mission.
