Manendragarh (Chhattisgarh) : The conservative tradition still dominates the society, a living example of this was seen on Wednesday in Manendragarh district of Chhattisgarh. Here a woman had a love marriage a few years back. Angered by this, the family members distanced themselves from him. But the mountain of sorrows broke on the woman when her husband died. Not even a relative came forward to lend a shoulder to her husband. The helpless woman was in bad condition by crying. In the end, the Manendragarh City Kotwali police supported the woman and performed the last rites of her husband.

According to the information, Savita Singh, a resident of Amalibahara of Podi Uproda in Korba district, reached Manendragarh police station with the dead body at around 8 pm on Tuesday night. There she expressed her pain in front of City Kotwali in-charge Sachin Singh and told that her husband had died.

The woman told that she had married Nikki Valmiki, a resident of Jakhara in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. Due to love marriage, the family members did not support. Now there is no one to shoulder the dead body. Hearing the words of the helpless and crying woman, the police station in-charge pacified her and said that we will perform the last rites together.

On Wednesday morning, City Kotwali in-charge Sachin Singh along with his police station staff started preparing for the last rites and reached Muktidham in the morning with the policemen. There the last rites of the deceased were performed with full Hindu customs. The Kotwali in-charge took the deceased’s two-year-old child in his lap and set the deceased on fire and got the last rites completed.
