Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that the negligible presence of tribal communities in the higher judicial service in the state of Jharkhand is a matter of concern. There is no provision of reservation in the appointment process of this service, so I would like that provision of reservation should be made in its appointment process. Chief Minister Hemant Soren made this statement during the inauguration of the new building of Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi.
Demand for reservation in preferred judicial services
Chief Minister Soren also pointed out that over 3,000 undertrials, many of whom are poor tribals, Dalits and members of weaker sections of society, are languishing in state jails for petty offenses for more than five years and said that to deal with this A system should be put in place for this. The CM said, “In a state like Jharkhand, the negligible presence of the tribal community in the higher judicial services is a matter of concern. There is no provision of reservation in the appointment process of this service. That’s why I would like that a provision for reservation should be made in the appointment process of senior judicial service in a tribal-dominated state.
Said in the presence of President Murmu and Chief Justice
It is worth noting that during the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building and complex of the Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Draupadi Murmu, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Justice Anirudh of the Supreme Court Bose, in the presence of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and others. Chief Minister Soren hoped that the High Court would prove to be a milestone in the direction of providing simple, accessible, cheap and speedy justice to the tribals, Dalits, backward and poor. Soren said, “I would like that a provision for reservation should be made in the appointment process of senior judicial service in this tribal-dominated state.”
